Day two of the canyon...

In 1869, Major John Wesley Powell led one of the first documented explorations down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon with nine men in four wooden boats. As a result many of the land marks are named after him and it is Glen's mission to visit as many of them as possible. We began our Monday setting off for Powell Point and the Powell monument on the South rim of the Grand Canyon.

We were then to set off for Powell Lake and Glen Canyon. On the way we came to what was probably the highlight of the Canyon, Desert View. Here there is an historic watch tower and views of the canyon, the desert to the east and the river which are spectacular.

We then headed on to, Page, on the edge of Powell Lake. As we did not arrive until early evening we again decided to locate ouselves in a Walmart car park with many other travelers, this just wouldn't happen at home!
